They warned you What time can do "Beware this place" We dared to Find a way through And live among the waste Waited on a change to come Delirium's refrain They warned you What love can do Fed the knowledge of defeat We dared to Find a way through Standing alone among the waste Waited on a change to come Delirium's refrain Waited on a false alarm Delirium's refrain Playing over A poisoned song A song that will never change

Hook, Line 03:36
Dead man on the hill Dead man lying still Watching as the last remains of life Go floating from the hill This cross we bear it well Watching shadows float into the night And I vow They'll never take My silence Mark my grave It's lonely on this hill This cross I wear it well Watching spirits dancing in the light And I vow They'll never take My silence Mark my grave These monsters That we create Will one day seal our fates There's only one way out There's only one way out We all know it to be true The only way out is through
3.
In The Glow 03:50
Twilight with her cruel inflection A smile hides in the glow Silence all my good intentions And take a look around Blue lies and a disposition That fades further in the glow I can feel the air grow thick Take a look around and erase I silence all my good intentions Lights vanish in the throes Like a moth caught on a frozen flame Listen as the words erase Marching step by step to deliver Cross my heart and push through the fever I don't remember what I was looking for Anymore Marching all alone to deliver I cross my heart and fight through this fever I don't remember what I am running from Anymore Anymore Any more? Erase...
4.
Golden Hour 03:42
Take your time The hour starts its decline There's a reflection and all I see Is a sun, cold and grey A sun, cold and grey It's a crime To leave this all behind The walls are alive, but all I see Is a sun, cold and grey Now we slowly walk away Hey You know it's a crime These walls are alive But we say goodbye Pour one out today And every other day Take your time Take your time
5.
Today I walked Out to the sea Where I left her On the way I recalled Words she whispered Before the fall It's still within your reach A halo floating in the breeze Always To climb the tide To climb the walls Grew upon me insurmountable The higher you fly The further you fall I still remember It's still within your reach A halo floating in the breeze It's still within your reach A halo The waves reminding me Always Burn the past to the ground Throw the ashes into the tide Now turn around Face the world And forget Today I walked Out to the sea Where I left her Buried
6.
Awake! The sky is torn, As grey is formed in our memories. Today We elope in fear. The dead are drawing near in our memories. I knew one day you would see We're lonely shadows floating In the make believe. I knew one day you would concede Nothing stays forever In our reach. The ache, I can't let go. The devil you know is what we both needed. Awake! The sky is on fire. Wash our desire into the night, into our dreams. I knew one day you would see We're lonely shadows floating In the make believe. I knew one day you would concede Nothing stays forever In our reach. After the flood We were still alive but not the same. After the flood All the memories around the room. I knew one day you would see We're lonely shadows floating In the make believe. I knew one day you would concede Nothing stays forever In our reach
7.
Crossing the street once again She held a heart in her hands Crossing the street when I can Her heart is no man's land So long ago We used to float Time moves so slow It should be a crime I cross memories once again We held the world in our hands I hold the line...now and then I'm crossing the street once again So long ago We used to float Time moves so slow It should be a crime So long ago I'd watch her float Time moves so slow And time has not been kind So long ago We held the world Time makes fools of us all It's the greatest crime
8.
Sun Shower 05:04
Ashes from the 13th floor are falling Through the painted leaves I hear a calling every night In the distance I reconcile And I promise to remember When everyone forgets Falling from above This rain is for us Tiny miracles and stolen glances Twisted harmonies and second chances They echo out In the distance Illuminated I will remember When everyone forgets Falling from above This rain is for us From above This rain is for us

about

Daylight Ghosts release their debut album Urban Umbra, a culmination of 2 years of song-writing, arranging and recording in which the band collaborated with friend and engineer Matt Dodds to realise the duo’s musical vision. Daylight Ghosts is comprised of Adam Dawe (lyrics and vocals) and Karl O’Shea (music and instruments), both members of various bands, past and current, in the Brisbane music scene.

The music on Urban Umbra can best be described as melancholic folk filtered through post-punk, electronica, and indie sounds drawn from the duo’s eclectic mix of influences. Matt Dodds’ experience with electronica and dance music helped shape the soundworld of the album and acted as a catalyst for the duo to explore ideas from outside the realms of purely acoustic music. Lyrically, the album explores personal themes of substance abuse, relationships, self-destruction and the passage of time.
