Golden Hour

Daylight Ghosts release their new single Golden Hour from their upcoming album Urban Umbra. This is also the first official music video release for the Indie/electro/dark-folk duo in collaboration with director/DOP Rhys Tyack.

Golden Hour was recorded with producer Matt Dodds in the first half of 2021 and is the 5th single to be released from the band. The song is a slow-building ballad containing elements of folk, post-punk and synthpop and utilises glockenspiel, sleigh bells and synthetic strings with composer Karl O’Shea’s melancholic acoustic guitar to create it’s bittersweet atmosphere.

“Golden Hour is a song about beautiful moments and the cruel realisation that they have to inevitably end” explains vocalist/lyricist Adam Dawe. “It's a personal reminder to make the most of the moments as they all have an expiry date and nothing lasts forever. To enjoy the last rays of light before the sun inevitably sets for the day.”

“This was one of the first songs Karl and I completed together as a duo. I remember it was the first piece of music for this project that provoked a strong reaction from me and inspired me to start writing and it set the tone for the rest of the songs to follow. It tends to receive a strong reaction when we play it live as well, so whatever magic is there, we hope we've captured it in the recording."
